I
always knew beginning college was going to cost money, and a lot of it. It was
something I always heard while growing up. I tried my best in school to be able
to help myself pay for college by getting scholarships but that isn't always
going to cover everything. Honestly, I am so grateful that my financial aid
money helps me out so much! It was an annoying process to go through with the
office with needed documents and constant phone calls for them, but I am glad
that this helps my mom and I so much. The only downside from receiving
financial aid money, is how long you have to wait to be able to get the money.
For instance, all COD students are currently in their third week for the spring
semester, and are barely receiving the financial aid money. It would have been
very helpful to have received the money before the semester began or towards
the beginning when the professors announce what textbooks and materials are
needed for their class. It tremendously stressed me out and now owe a couple of
IOU’s. College textbook prices are what get to me the most. Why must books that
are supposed to educate us be so expensive? It isn’t our fault that we just
want to expand our education. Renting books are a bit easier but are still too
pricy, mostly because I am very cheap. All in all, I am blessed to be helped
out with what I receive. Beggars cannot be choosers.
